Avocado Oil for Cooking

Avocado Oil for Cooking

Avocado oil is very versatile and can be used almost as the olive oil itself in the kitchen. But when it is used for cooking, you will notice that it has its own nuances, such as its flavor and its unmistakable and delicate aroma.

It is so versatile that it can be used for virtually all our dishes, both cold and hot. For example, in salads, smoothies, hummus, sliced bread, and hot for some slightly more elaborate recipes.

Some studies have observed that this oil may contain greater beneficial properties than olive oil itself.

Can you fry with avocado oil?

Yes, in fact it is one of the best for frying since it burns at a higher temperature than olive oil, reaching 260 degrees.

Its use in the kitchen does not usually affect the taste of the food with which it is being cooked with it.

Currently, avocado oil is beginning to be very popular in the kitchens of people who are aware of a healthier diet thanks to its medicinal, cosmetic and topical applications.

It is highly recommended in some diets because it is low in calories and very rich in essential nutrients.

The most common presentation it has is in the bottle, although there is already a spray. You can start trying avocado oil as a substitute for coconut, olive, or butter oil.

As you can see it has enough properties and benefits for us to integrate it as part of a healthy diet.

How to make avocado oil

There are three different ways to extract avocado oil: baked, cooking avocado pulp or pressing skin or peels. Ripe avocados are the ones that give the best oil and the most amount.
Cooking and baking methods have the following steps in common:

i) Take more than 3 to 4 avocados and peel them.
ii) Crush the pulp until pureed and with this puree we will work.

1. Avocado mash cooking oil

  1. Put the puree in a saucepan or in a pan.
  2. Cook this puree over medium or slow heat for 45 minutes at an hour approx.
  3. You have to be stirring at least every 5 minutes so that it does not burn or stick.
  4. There comes a time when it starts to bubble and you will notice that the oil is starting to rise to the surface.
  5. When the pulp or mash begins to turn dark green or brown and the water has evaporated completely it will be time to turn off the heat and remove it to a clean cloth.
  6. Squeeze and squeeze the cloth so that through the pressure the oil comes out, remember to place a container to collect this oil.
  7. Filter the oil obtained and keep it in a clean bottle for use either cosmetic or in the kitchen.

2 Squeezing and pressing avocado peels

  1. Take the skin or the empty shells and place them neatly one on top of the other inside a juice presser.
  2. Squeeze the lever to press the shells as hard as you can.
  3. The oil will start to fall under where you previously have to place a container.
  4. Keep pressing until the last drop falls, change the position of the shells and squeeze again to extract as many pulps as possible.
  5. Filter this oil and keep it in a container or bottle.
