How to Configure the Gmail in Outlook?

  • Open the Outlook on your computer and then click on the File tab and then click on the Add Account option. 
  • Now, a new pop up window will appear and then you have to enter the full email address in the text box and click on the Connect button. 
  • It will take you to the Gmail login page where you will need to authenticate the account. 
  • Now, You need to enter the Gmail password and then click on the Sign-in button. 
  • If you’ve enabled the two-step verification for your account, then you will receive a password on your mobile for completing the login. 
  • Now, a permission window will appear on Google, click on the Allow button.
  • And then finish the steps by clicking on the Connect button from the Outlook pop up window. 

So, it was easy for anyone to set up Gmail in Outlook. Yes, you don’t need to delve into the Gmail SMTP settings to set up Gmail in Outlook.

Outlook already recognizes Gmail and that is why it allows you to configure the email without any hassle. 

But, if you want to configure it manually, then you have to follow a few simple steps given here. Just follow these steps to manually configure Gmail in Outlook. 

  • Open the Outlook on your computer and then click on the File tab and then click on the Add Account option. 
  • Now, a new pop up window will appear and then you have to enter the full email address in the text box and now, click on the Advanced Options.
  • Then, check the ‘Let me connect to my account manually’ and then click on the Connect button.   
  • Now, you are at the manual settings page where you have to enter the Gmail Outlook settings to complete the setup.
  • Here are the settings for Gmail you need to enter the Add Account option. 
    • Incoming mail server – pop.gmail.com
    • Incoming mail port – 995
    • Outgoing mail server – smtp.gmail.com
    • Outgoing mail port – 465
    • And username and password as per the account settings. 
  • Now, you need to go to the Outgoing Server tab and then check the ‘my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’ option.
  • And then select the ‘use the same settings as my incoming mail server’ option. 
  • Now, click on the OK button to go back to the original window and then click on the Next button to proceed. 

Now, Outlook will test out the settings for Gmail and try to establish a connection with the Gmail servers. Once the connection is established, you will be redirected to the Inbox page on Outlook.
