Desert Safari in Bahrain | Guide to Off-Road for Wonderful Tour

You want to take your new vehicle off the road for the first time, but you have no idea what you’ll need, will your car will be able to do it? , or how you can use some of the features of the car.

Which tires are best for the area? Going off-road is not as easy as it sounds. It’s an adventure that can be challenging and confusing, especially if you’re not ready.

For your help, we have prepared some tips for you that will help you in driving off-road.

1. Know Your Vehicle

It’s important to use four wheels when you are driving in poor conditions, but most important are the tires that you are using.

Tire quality is normally what remains between a vehicle making it someplace and back. It’s important to understand the key systems that your truck provides and what they do.

2. Traction Control

Most modern 4×4 vehicles will have some degree of traction control. The traction control uses the brakes to limit the smoothness of the wheels and ensure that the torque is transferred from the tire to the track.

3. 4WD High vs 4WD Low

4WD High is what you use every day. If you need to move fast and keep up the momentum, you need to be at 4WD High. When you need a lot of low power with low speed on the track, go for 4WD Low.

4. Locking Differentials

Refers to the speed at which wheels turn. The lock difference locks the rotation of the left and right wheel together. Being able to get into a car with a lock on it is great for being off-road.

5. Pack well/Prepare for the worst-case scenario:

You should make sure that you have all the essentials that you need:

  • Full gas tank
  • Tow rope
  • A spare tire and everything needed to make a change in the field
  • Navigational aids
  • First aid kit
  • Mobile phone
  • Torch
  • Food and Drinks

Extras:

  • High lift jack
  • Vehicle-mounted winch
  • Shovel
  • Spare tanks of water (for the radiator) and fuel
  • Two-way radios for communication between you and your off-road buddies
  • Fire extinguishers

6. Technique:

In public spaces, drive as slowly as possible but as fast as you can. The recommended speed limit on unpaved roads is 12mph.

you should use smooth steering, brakes, and switches where you can. Most modern 4x4s have automatic gearboxes but, avoid gear changes while in the tricky drive.

7. Vehicle Technology

Most modern 4x4s have lots of road-specific features and settings, so it’s worth knowing what they do.

You should use vehicles having technologies like locking differentials, stability control, descent control, cameras, wheel angle sensors, and vehicle angle sensors.

8. Know the Terrain

It’s worth planning the route. If you are going alone, tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.

9. Dry Ground

For this, you only need good tires and knowledge of the route.

10. Mud

It’s best to use tires that can tackle muddy terrains. For more traction, reduce tire pressure to 20 psi.

11. Sand

For this terrain, you should use a vehicle with maximum horsepower or keep your momentum up.

If you are located in Bahrain, you can buy tyres in Bahrain easily online. Just make sure you know what you want.

12. Safety Tips

Some techniques and tips will help keep you safe on the terrain.  Here are some basic things that you should keep in mind.

  • Don’t wrap your thumbs around the steering wheel
  • Don’t drive in water without knowing the depth
  • ● Don’t drive too fast
  • Don’t use 4-Low at speeds over 25 mph
  • Don’t drive beyond your vehicle or skill limits
  • Don’t stick arms and legs outside the vehicle
  • Don’t drive without wearing a seatbelt
  • Don’t drive alone

In driving off-road, there is nothing better than knowledge. Be prepared for all situations. Familiarize yourself with your car manual, and it will equip you better. Most importantly, never go alone.

Have another driver with the tow truck and make sure you have a cell phone in case of an emergency.
