Leh Ladakh is the mystical land located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The wonders of Leh Ladakh makes it one of the most prominent destinations in the travel paradise.

The place has several religious significant monuments and the highest places in the country. Along with it, Ladakh is also home to the few of the rarest flora and fauna in the entire country.

1.Tso Moriri Lake

Tso Moriri lake is the lesser-known twin of the Pangong Lake. It is also called the mountain lake as it is completely surrounded by the mountains. The sparkling lake of Tso Moriri makes sure that the visitors are left awestruck by its beauty and tranquillity.

The Tso Moriri lake is situated at a height of 4595 meters above sea level in the Changtang Wildlife Sanctuary. The lake has been given the status of wetland reserve as there are several exotic species of birds that can be found in and around the lake.

The lake is around 100 kms deep and measures 28 kms in length. The lake remains frozen for most parts of winters. The best time to visit Tso Moriri Lake is in the summers when the lake is in its full glory.     

2. Alchi Monastery

Alchi monastery is one of the most famous monasteries of the Ladakh region. It is considered as a holy and sanctified place as it holds religious significance. It is the oldest Buddhist learning centre in North India.

Devotees from all over the world come to visit the Alchi monastery in their quest for searching eternal peace. The Alchi monastery was built by Guru Rinchen Zangpo, a renowned Tibetan scholar in the 10th century. The monastery is famous for rafting due to its proximity to the Zanskar river.

There are various restaurants and souvenirs shops near the monastery. It is a must-visit place when on a trip to Ladakh. The monastery holds historical importance as it stores some of the oldest artefacts and paintings of the Ladakh region. 

3. Hemis National Park

Hemis National Park is home to one of the rarest species in the world i.e. Snow leopard. Located at an altitude of 3,300 meters to 6,000 meters, it is the highest national park in the country.

Along with it, Hemis National Park is the largest national park in the entire south asia region with an area of around 4,400 sq km. Along with snow leopards, the national park houses many species of animals like shape, bharal, great Tibetan sheep ( few to mention).

Hemis National Park is a major tourist attraction that is situated in the Ladakh region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

4. Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame is dedicated to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the Indo-Pakistan war. The Hall of Fame is located near the Leh airfield on the Leh-Kargil road. The museum is maintained by the Indian army and is open throughout the week.

The museum showcases the photos, belongings, handwritten letters and notes of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The museum also has the seized weapons and arms of the Pakistani army during the war on display. The visitors can also watch a detailed documentary on operation Vijay upon their visit to the museum.

5. Khardung La

Khardung La pass is one of the most famous places in the Ladakh region. Khardung La is the highest motorable road in the country. It attracts both adventure enthusiasts and nature admirers for the majority part of the year. Upon reaching the top, one can witness the enchanting landscapes and the snow-covered mountains.

The alluring beauty of the place makes a person want to come back to this place again and again. The Khardung La pass has strategic importance as it is used to carry goods to the Siachen base camp of Indian Army.
